About David DeBondt
Founder & Lead Instructor, GuardForce Academy
David DeBondt is the Founder and Lead Instructor of GuardForce Academy. With over 12 years of honorable service in the United States Army, David brings unmatched discipline, expertise, and leadership to every course he teaches. David currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
During his military career, he served as a Cavalry Scout and MLRS Crewmember. During his time in the Army he was deployed or stationed in Iraq (OIF 07-09), Kuwait, Qatar, and South Korea. David helped meet the Army’s recruiting goals by serving as a Recruiter. At the end of his career, he imparted his years of experience by serving as a Cavalry Instructor teaching new recruits during the Advanced Individual Training portion of initial entry training. After his service, David continued his commitment to public safety as a firefighter for five years, where he gained invaluable experience learning and leading in diverse and high-pressure situations.
He then transitioned to the private sector, building more than four years of private security experience and earning his Unarmed and Armed Security Instructor Certifications.
At GuardForce Academy, David takes pride in preparing every student for success. His mission is to ensure that graduates leave the academy not only meeting industry standards, but exceeding them — ready to embark on a rewarding career in the security profession.
Outside of his professional work, David enjoys spending quality time with his fiancée and son.
