During this course, students will learn skills that will be the basis for their private security careers. The entirety of this course is conducted in a classroom setting. Each student will have to take, and pass, a final exam and conduct a practical assessment. You must be 18+ to enroll in this course as per DPSST standards.

This course is designed to inform and improve security officers knowledge and gun handling skills. This course covers Oregon law and statutes on use of force, while also addressing safety and handling of firearms while on duty. At the end of this course, each student will take and pass a written exam. They will also complete a safe handgun handling test. Additionally, there will be a timed qualification course of fire. Portions on this course are conducted in a classroom setting, while others will be conducted at the range. You must be 21+ years of age to enroll in this course.
